Job summary

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent, required.
• Current NYS DOH EMT certification.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to assignments and updates unit status.
• Assesses patient illness or injury and prioritizes medical procedures.
• Administers first aid or BLS care in prehospital settings.
• Coordinates with partners, public safety, and hospital staff to facilitate care.
• Communicates with dispatchers and treatment centers for instructions.
• Writes comprehensive reports of scene, exams, orders, treatments, outcomes.
• Checks vehicle equipment, maintains readiness, and reports needed repairs.
• Ensures ambulance compliance with NYCRR 800 and department policies.
• Safeguards and maintains department equipment and property.
• Operates Department vehicles per NY laws and policies.
• Attends training classes to maintain certifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
