Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA, seeks a Patient Care Technician EMT to provide direct and indirect patient care under nursing supervision. The role requires EMT and BCLS certifications, plus experience with computerized systems.

The technician will assist with mobility, data collection, specimen handling, and daily living activities, while supporting safe patient care and efficient workflows on the unit.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent are required.
• Current EMT Certification required.
• BCLS certification required.
• Experience with computerized ordering and documentation systems is preferred.
• Six months to one year clinical secretary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
• Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the care cycle, including admissions data, vitals, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
• Assists with mobility and transfers, including use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs; supports discharges.
• Collects specimens for diagnostic tests and ensures proper labeling and timely transfer.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and daily care tasks as needed.
• Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
• Engages in safety and communication best practices to enhance the patient experience.
