Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited EMT training program for licensing.
• Solid knowledge of EMT principles, equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; EMT/AEMT registry may be required.
• State license as required by location.
• NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 completed; continuing education as mandated.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must be 18 or older; eligibility rules may apply for under-21 drivers.

Responsibilities

• Stabilize and transport patients in non-emergency to life-threatening situations.
• Respond to calls and provide first aid or life support as needed.
• Operate ambulance equipment and assist with patient assessment and care.
• Communicate with dispatch and treatment centers; relay patient information accurately.
