Job summary

Sanford Health in the United States is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to stabilize and transport patients in ambulance settings, from routine to life-threatening emergencies. The EMT will respond to calls, administer basic life support, collect vital signs, and ensure equipment is ready for the next run.

This full-time ambulance position requires a high school diploma, completion of an accredited EMT program, BLS, and applicable state licensing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Training Program required for licensing.
• BLS certification is required and depending upon location, national registry status as an EMT or AEMT may be required.
• State license depending on location.
• NIMS S100/200/700 completed, continuing education hours as mandated.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• In an Ambulance setting, drive mobile ICU to a location following dispatch instructions.
• Respond to emergency calls, administer first aid or life support care.
• Obtain patient medical history and vital statistics.
• Assess illness/injury and prioritize care during transport.
• Utilize medical equipment to treat patient and assess injuries.
• Communicate with dispatchers and medical staff to relay information and receive instructions.
• Ensure ambulance is clean, restocked, and ready for next run.
• Assist with patient transfer to and from procedural areas when needed.
• Demonstrate understanding of Emergency Department flow and patient care requirements.
