Job summary

Huntsville Hospital seeks a pre-hospital EMT/EMSP certified professional to administer life support care on-scene and coordinate with HEMSI Medical Control Physicians. You will assess patients, provide initial treatment, document vital signs, and maintain readiness of equipment and vehicles.

Qualification requires Alabama EMSP license as EMT, valid driver's license, and CPR certification. You will ensure safety and effective communication with hospital teams while delivering excellent patient

Qualifications

• Education required: High school diploma or GED.
• State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT; valid driver's license; Healthcare Provider CPR certification upon hire or within provisional period.

Responsibilities

• Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.
• Restores and stabilizes cardiac, pulselessness, non-breathing patients.
• Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and records vital signs.
• Maintains up to date credentials regarding licensing and protocol changes.
• Communicates with hospital personnel by approved communication methods.
• Documents patient care in approved reporting methods.
• Maintains vehicle and station readiness; restocks supplies and performs minor maintenance.
• Assists in directing and coordinating additional personnel on scene, including volunteers.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and family members.
• Meets the HEMSI standard on response times.

This position administers life support care to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital setting, in accordance with statewide Treatment Protocols and HEMSI Medical Control Physicians, as authorized and directed by physician and/or paramedic.

Responsibilities

• Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.
• Works efficiently to restore and stabilize cardiac, pulselessness, non-breathing patients.
• Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and takes and records patient's vital signs.
• Remains in good driving status and maintains insurable driving status.
• Communicates with hospital/TCC personnel by HEMSI approved communication methods.
• Maintains up to date credentials regarding licensing and protocol changes.
• Appropriately documents patient care in all HEMSI approved reporting methods.
• Observes all safety and security procedures for their vehicle and station.
• Maintains unit in constant state of readiness through supplies and equipment restocking.
• Efficiently cleans and performs minor maintenance to emergency vehicle.
• Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle and station.
• Assists in direction and coordination of additional personnel on scene, including volunteer responders.
• Faithfully reports to work and maintains acceptable attendance.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and family members.
• Meets the HEMSI standard on response times.

Qualifications

Education required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Certificate, License or Registration: State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT. Valid and current driver's license. Healthcare Provider CPR Certification upon hire or obtained within provisional period.
