Job summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at UKHC is pivotal in delivering prompt medical care, transportation, and empathetic service to patients in emergency situations on site in Lexington, Kentucky. Qualifications

Required License/Registration/Certification

Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ) and valid Driver’s License; American Heart Association ( AHA ) Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification for the Healthcare Provider valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; working at heights above four feet; and exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; loud noises; temperature extremes; and blood-borne/airborne pathogens; intermittently requires working in confined spaces; and occasionally requires job-related travel (less than 10% of time), exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, recombinant DNA or viral vectors, and combative/violent people.

Shift

Must be able to work three, 12-hour shifts per week (7p-7a); will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.
