Job summary

Wesley Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an EMT to join our emergency response team. You will function as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting, assess patients, perform basic life support, and assist with medications as protocol allows, while driving the ambulance safely under all conditions.

The role requires knowledge of local streets and legal/ethical EMS issues, ongoing licensure maintenance, and dedication to continuing education.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.
• High School Diploma or GED completed.
• Current Kansas State EMT Certification.
• Current National Registry Certification.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Driver’s license valid, current and unrestricted.
• Maintains an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Function as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting.
• Responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured.
• Provide basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, and AED use.
• Assist patients with taking medications as protocol allows.
• Drive the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner under all conditions.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of local streets, highways and addressing systems.
• Understand legal, moral and ethical issues in EMS.
• Commit to continuing education and licensure maintenance.
• Possess mechanical knowledge of the ambulance and troubleshoot as needed.

Here is some of what you can expect from being a EMT with us:

• You will function as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting.
• You will be responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured.
• You will provide basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of the automatic defibrillator, and assist patients with taking some of their own medications as protocol allows.
• You will be responsible for driving the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner under all conditions.
• You must have a thorough knowledge of the street, highway, and addressing systems in which he or she will be working.
• You must understand all applicable legal, moral, and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical service environment.
• You should be dedicated to continuing education and maintenance of licensures and certifications.
• You should have minimum mechanical knowledge of the ambulance and be able to troubleshoot when issues arise
