Job summary

ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. is seeking an EMS Engineer to support reliable operation, administration, and security of energy management systems including SCADA, telemetry, and load management.

You will ensure real-time systems remain accurate, available, and secure to serve electric customers reliably and economically. The role involves troubleshooting, system improvements, and collaborating with multiple departments and vendors.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in electric utility/SCADA/telemetry/cybersecurity or related environment.
• Working knowledge of utility operations, energy management systems, SCADA/telemetry, networks, cybersecurity, and databases is desirable.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues, evaluate options, support system improvements, and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, initiative, reliability and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Support administration, maintenance, and improvement of energy management, SCADA, telemetry, load management, distributed generation monitoring, and related communications systems.
• Monitor and support system reliability, data accuracy, cybersecurity, integration, and business continuity for OT systems; coordinate corrective actions as needed.
• Provide technical and engineering support for operational systems, field equipment integration, metering and communications interfaces, databases and reporting needs, and system enhancements.
• Collaborate with ElectriCities departments, participants, utilities, vendors, and consultants to support system performance.
• Participate in rotating after-hours support during events, emergencies, and other time-sensitive situations requiring sound engineering judgment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
