Job summary

County of Volusia seeks a Clinical Assistant to the Medical Director to lead quality assurance and training within the EMS system. The role emphasizes data-driven improvement, policy adherence, and coordination with county partners to enhance patient care across fire-based and third-party ambulance transport systems.

The ideal candidate will have substantial EMS clinical experience, supervisory or mentoring background, and strong knowledge of PHI handling and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of clinical EMS experience with direct patient contact; two (2) years in a supervisory/training role.
• Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years paramedic ALS prehospital or ED experience; two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Comparable education, training, or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Reads and comprehends medical records and cardiac monitor data to assess adherence to local protocols and standards.
• Coordinates meetings, presentations, and trainings to promote uniform EMS care.
• Collects and analyzes data to identify trends, deviations, or deficiencies.
• Plans and executes actions to address deficiencies, using independent or systemic approaches.
• Interacts with EMS partners and stakeholders to improve system effectiveness and efficiency.
• Delivers training sessions for large groups and supports EMS education.
• Responds to emergency situations and adheres to applicable laws and policies.
