Job summary

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care, within the David Geffen School of Medicine, seeks an EMS Program Faculty member to join its EMT Hybrid and Accelerated Education team in Los Angeles. You will deliver classroom, lab, and scenario-based instruction while supporting student success and program excellence.

Reporting to the EMT Program Director, the role involves curriculum development, learner evaluation, and collaboration with medical directors and staff.

Qualifications

  • AHS BLS Provider & Instructor Certification.
  • Current licensure as Paramedic/Physician Assistant/Registered Nurse or higher in California.
  • Ability to obtain Paramedic Accreditation in Los Angeles County.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in health-related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years EMS work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years teaching EMS or equivalent health care setting.
  • Experience coordinating, delivering, and evaluating education courses.
  • Knowledge of education theory and use of simulation to meet learning objectives.
  • Experience with distance education programs and supportive technology (Adobe Connect, LMS) as an instructor/student (preferred).
  • Knowledge of EMT/Paramedic program policies, objectives, and requirements (preferred).
  • Knowledge of provider level skills and ability to teach them.
  • Excellent communication and instructional presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for collaboration with supervisors, staff, students, and public.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to off-campus locations.
  • Willingness to work days/evenings/weekends as scheduled.
  • Physical ability to sit, walk, stand, lift, and carry up to heavy weights.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality classroom, laboratory, and scenario-based instruction.
  • Provide academic coaching, remediation, curriculum development, and learner evaluation.
  • Collaborate with faculty, medical directors, and staff to ensure program excellence.
  • Support outreach activities that promote the EMT program.
