Job summary

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine is seeking an EMS Program Faculty member to join its EMT Hybrid and Accelerated Education team in Los Angeles. You will deliver high-quality instruction across classrooms, labs, and scenarios while supporting student success in a leading EMS education program.

This full-time on-site role requires collaboration with faculty, medical directors, and staff, with occasional evenings/weekends to meet learner needs.

Qualifications

• AHS BLS Provider & Instructor Certification.
• Current licensure as a Paramedic, Physician Assistant, RN or higher in California (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to obtain Paramedic Accreditation in the County of Los Angeles.
• Minimum five (5) years EMS work experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience in EMS or related setting.
• Experience coordinating, delivering, and evaluating education courses.
• Knowledge and training in education theory and use of simulation.

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care within the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking an EMS Program Faculty member to join its EMT Hybrid and Accelerated Education team. Reporting to the EMT Program Director, this position delivers high-quality classroom, laboratory, and scenario-based instruction while supporting student success in one of the nation's leading EMS education programs.

Responsibilities include classroom teaching, skills instruction and assessment, academic coaching, remediation, curriculum development, learner evaluation, and participation in educational research and program improvement. The position also collaborates with faculty, medical directors, and administrative staff to ensure program excellence and supports outreach activities that promote the EMT program.

This is a full-time career position requiring an on-site presence based on instructional needs, including occasional evenings and weekends. Assignment between Hybrid and Accelerated course formats may vary based on program needs. Salary Range: $6,203.1-$12,705.48 monthly.

Qualifications

• AHS BLS Provider & Instructor Certification
• Current licensure as a Paramedic, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse or higher in State of California (or ability to obtain licensure).
• Ability to obtain Paramedic Accreditation in the County of Los Angeles.
• Baccalaureate degree and/or equivalent years of experience and training in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (Masters preferred).
• Minimum of five (5) years EMS work experience on an ambulance, fire department or in a hospital emergency department.
• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in emergency medical services or equivalent health care setting.
• Previous experience coordinating, delivering, and evaluating education courses.
• Detailed knowledge and formal training in education theory and the use of simulation to meet learning objectives.
• Demonstrated experience with distant education programs and supportive technology (ie. Adobe Connect, LMS, etc.) as an instructor and/or student (preferred).
• Detailed knowledge and skill in prehospital care procedures and techniques.
• Detailed knowledge of EMT and Paramedic and related program course policies, objectives, and requirements (preferred).
• Detailed knowledge of Primary, Recertification, and Preparatory training programs.
• Detailed knowledge of all pertinent provider level skills and the ability to provide instruction of same including being able to perform and effectively teach required skills.
• Excellent communication and instructional presentation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts.
• Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with attention to detail and minimal direction.
• Proven experience demonstrating organizational, multi-tasking, and "follow through" skills.
• Interpersonal skills to excel in relations with supervisors, staff, students, and the public.
• Skill in working and collaborating effectively as part of a team.
• Must have valid unrestricted Driver's license and be available to drive personal vehicle to off-campus locations for courses and special projects.
• Must be able to work day, evenings and/or weekends as programs are scheduled and required to meet student learning needs.
• Must be able to frequently sit, walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times in excess of 125 pounds. Hand-Eye and motor coordination is necessary. The work can involve light lifting (from 10 to 20 pounds maximum) to very heavy lifting (50 pounds occasionally, no maximum) and can involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing (including the ability to perceive differences in colors, shades, or harmonious combinations or to match colors is required).
