Job summary

The University of Virginia (UVA) Division of EMS within the Department of Emergency Medicine invites applications for an EMS Physician to join our clinical faculty with a focus on research. The position is 0.85 FTE clinical and 0.15 FTE dedicated to EMS program development, oversight, and scholarly activity, collaborating with regional agencies to advance EMS care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and Virginia medical license eligibility.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Board certification in Emergency Medical Services.
• Minimum of 3 years EMS system oversight experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; commitment to scholarship.
• Interest in EMS research and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care in the Emergency Department.
• Oversee care provided by residents and medical students.
• Partner with regional EMS agencies to standardize care and transitions from prehospital to hospital care.
• Lead EMS quality improvement and oversight activities.
• Teach and mentor EMS fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Collaborate with UVA's data science and analytics groups on EMS research and innovation.
