Job summary

University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for an EMS Physician within the Division of EMS of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The role combines primarily clinical work (0.85 FTE) with 0.15 FTE dedicated to EMS program development, education, and scholarly activity, including oversight of regional EMS agencies and quality improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will join core faculty for the EMS Fellowship, contribute to the EMS research program, and collaborate with UVA

Qualifications

MD or DO degree required.
Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM).
Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in Virginia.
At least 3 years of experience in EMS system oversight.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality clinical care in the Emergency Department and oversee care by residents and medical students.
Partner with regional EMS agencies to standardize care and ensure seamless transitions from prehospital to in-hospital settings.
Contribute to the EMS research program and participate in EMS-focused research and quality improvement projects.
Serve as core faculty for the ACGME-accredited EMS Fellowship and mentor EMS clinicians, fellows, residents, and medical students.
