The Operations Manager provides leadership for all items pertaining to the operations, education/training, and clinical services of the EMS operation and is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer while leading the EMS team.

Major duties include managing EMS operations, monitoring protocol adherence and training, and maintaining relationships with area Fire Departments and healthcare institutions. Also, leadership and occasional field duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • EMS or Fire Department Paramedic experience for at least five years.
  • Minimum of three years of management experience.
  • State of Florida Paramedic Licensure and/or NREMT Certification required.
  • Current Florida driver license and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for EMS operations, education/training, and clinical services.
  • Oversee scheduling, CQI-based training, and compliance with protocols.
  • Maintain relationships with Fire Departments and healthcare institutions.
  • Direct EMS personnel to meet system goals and quality patient care.
  • Occasionally serve as a Paramedic on an ambulance if needed.
  • Plan long- and short-term system improvements and corrective actions.

Job description

The Operations Manager provides leadership for all items pertaining to the operations, education/training, and clinical services of the EMS operation and is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer while leading the EMS team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for management, planning, development and maintenance of EMS operations to include operations, scheduling and education/training (CE).
  • Monitor protocol adherence and development to include CQI based training and remediation.
  • Works in conjunction with the associated Fire Departments and maintains direct relationships with area healthcare institutions.
  • Maximize opportunities and makes positive influence in problem solving in all matters involving the management of the EMS system.
  • Offers direction to EMS personnel within the operation so the goals of the system are realized.
  • Function as a Paramedic on an ambulance if the system needs require.
  • Assure quality patient care and high customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for system planning, both long- and short-term, associated with assigned areas.
  • Monitor the quality of all services provided, ensuring that standards are met or exceeded and promptly directs and coordinates corrective actions when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current state of Florida driver license
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Critical Care Paramedic Credential
  • Five (5) years of EMS or Fire Management experience
  • Two (2) years of Community Paramedic Experience
  • Community Paramedic Credential
  • Community Health Worker Credential
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • The Operations Manager is required to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, step, stoop, kneel; and talk or hear.
  • The Operations Manager is required to pull, lift, grasp, reach, use hands, finger movement, and repetitive motions.
  • Must frequently lift and/or carry a minimum of 140 pounds up to 200 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Requirements will vary; must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and to blood/body fluids, requires respirator use, fumes/odors, extended day, and temperature changes. Frequently works with others, face-to-face contact with others with exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment. Performs shift work and performs duties frequently in a mobile environment and in confined areas.
