Job summary

Pitt Community College seeks an EMS Instructor to plan, deliver, assess, and improve classroom, laboratory, simulation, online, clinical, and field instruction within the EMS program. The instructor supports onboarding, preceptor orientation, documentation review, student-progress monitoring, and other clinical activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in EMS, Healthcare, Education or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Current, unrestricted NC Paramedic credential or eligibility via reciprocity within 30 days.
• At least three years of prehospital paramedic-level experience.
• NC OEMS Level I Instructor credential, or eligibility to obtain within six months.
• Ability to obtain approval/credentialing through Pitt County Program Medical Director within three months.
• Documented experience providing EMS, healthcare, or public-safety education and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Develops and delivers evidence-informed instruction per course objectives and EMS standards.
• Incorporates National EMS Education Standards and local protocols into teaching.
• Prepares syllabi, lesson plans, schedules, and student-learning activities.
• Identifies students needing remediation and coordinates remediation plans.
• Maintains documentation of attendance, grades, competencies, and outcomes.
• Supports student retention, progression, credentialing eligibility, and workforce transition.
