AEP is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support Reliability applications, data integrity, and EMS-related tools. You will assist in monitoring data quality, troubleshooting power flow results, and ensuring model integrity for the electric grid.

Ideal candidates hold a ABET-accredited bachelor's in electrical engineering and may pursue FE/PE licensure. The role involves on-call duties for real-time system reliability support.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position for new graduates with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • Seed requirements: passing FE exam encouraged and preferred for future PE licensure.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Engineer is primarily responsible for engineering support of the Reliability applications, processes, and the associated data and solution integrity. This includes supporting State Estimator functionality in the PJM, SPP and ERCOT regions as well as other reliability tools used in transmission operations. On the support aspect, the engineer will focus on monitoring and addressing data/model quality issues and on maintaining acceptable solution quality in support of Real-time system reliability. The engineer will be part of 24x7 On-Call support staff rotation in order to provide non-stop support to the System Control Center; this means that during the time they are on-call they are expected to be available and respond. Experience in Energy Management Systems, system reliability & grid operations, planning and modeling is a plus. The engineer will troubleshooting and analyzing EMS power flow solution iteration results and work with various other applications used in the daily reliability and operations of the electric grid. The engineer will verify modeling integrity in assigned area in accordance with AEP's capital and O&M work plan.

What We Are Looking For

This is an entry level position for new graduates with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in a program accredited by ABET* Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
