Job summary

American Medical Response (AMR) in Buffalo, NY seeks a full-time Dispatcher to serve as a call-taker and coordinate ambulance requests. You will record and manage transport requests from multiple sources and provide pre-arrival instructions when needed.

The role requires basic medical training or EMS/public safety dispatch experience, strong English literacy, excellent radio/phone communication, and solid data entry skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience, or at least one year EMS/public safety dispatcher experience.
  • Skilled in reading and writing English.
  • Ability to communicate clearly on radio and telephone.
  • Able to record, transmit and report information accurately.
  • Able to use all required equipment efficiently.
  • Capable of multitasking and accurate data entry.
  • Understanding basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate EMS resources using protocols and decision rules.
  • Ensure complete and accurate paperwork before shift end.
  • Enter shift data accurately, including State Run Report data.
  • Generate reports and verify accuracy.
  • Locate incidents and determine safest routes using locator aids.
  • Relay instructions from supervisors and emergency information.
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Follow established formats in receiving service requests.
  • Operate equipment including 911 systems, printers, and computers.
