Job summary

The University of Kentucky Emergency Services is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher to support UKHC. The dispatcher will manage 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch ambulances, schedule transports and assist in helicopter landing coordination at the medical center.

Strong communication and computer skills are required. Preferred candidates have 1+ year dispatch experience in public safety and related healthcare settings; APCO certification within a year of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• Educational requirement is a high school diploma (HS).
• At least 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Two years of related experience and dispatch/fire-EMS background strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatch UK ambulances and schedule transports.
• Assist in air traffic control for helicopters landing at the medical center.
• Handle call intake for EMS units and relay information to hospital staff.
