UNC Health Nash, part of the UNC Health system, invites passionate EMS professionals to join our Nash Access Center. The Community Paramedic provides primary care and advanced life support, performing evaluations, treatment, and stabilization to reduce morbidity and avoid rehospitalizations.

We value team orientation, collaboration with other health professionals, and community minded service. The role is onsite in Nash UNC Health Care with 40-hour weeks and day shift.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Current paramedic certification with NC OEMS.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • ACLS, CPI, ASLS certifications within 1 year.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • 2 years of Paramedic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured.
  • Supports existing health services and extends access to health services delivery in underserved populations, including primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness, mental health, and dental health.

Summary

The EMS Community Paramedic provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured with the goal of reducing morbidity and avoidable rehospitalizations for our community members.

Responsibilities

The Community Paramedic supports existing health services; provides integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals; extends access to health services delivery in underserved and general populations, including primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness, mental health, and dental health; and performs other duties as required. Daily operations include in-home, in-person visits, assessments, and other interventions as needed. Successful candidates will be team oriented, collaborative in their approach to healthcare, and community minded.

  • High school graduate or GED.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • Current certification as a Paramedic with the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • ACLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • CPI certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • ASLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • NIHSS certification.
Professional Experience Requirements
  • 2 years of Paramedic experience is required.
  • Supervisory/management development course work, training, or experience preferred.
