Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Software Systems Specialist to support the EMR development team across multiple service lines. You will analyze software system problems, perform programming and testing, and help implement efficient routines while training junior staff.

The role supports a hybrid work schedule and requires experience with or the willingness to attain Epic proficiency in a clinical setting within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: 5 years of computer operation, programming, or IT experience in a business setting, including 1 year as Software Systems Specialist I or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Participates in analysis of software system problems of moderate complexity and formulates and implements solutions.
• Performs programming, testing, and documentation.
• Recommends development of system routines for efficient use of resources; designs and oversees implementation.
• May specialize in a specific area of system software with responsibilities for implementation and maintenance.
• Participates in planning of enhancements and modifications to software; identifies impact of changes.
• Trains Software Systems Specialists I as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
