Job summary

Optimum Performance Institute in Woodland Hills, CA is hiring a Career Counselor to support young adults in our Transitional Living Program. This on-site, full-time role focuses on one-on-one coaching and group instruction using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches to build employability.

You will work with treatment teams to align education and employment goals with recovery plans, coordinate opportunities, and document outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Human Services, or related field.
• Minimum six months of experience in education, career services, job development, counseling, or related field; behavioral health preferred.
• Knowledge of DSM disorders and the challenges facing adolescents, young adults, and families preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; ability to collaborate with clients, families, employers, and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized education, career, and employment support to adolescents and young adults, including career coaching, vocational assessments, goal setting, and education/employment plans.
• Guide clients through educational pathways, including high school completion, college and graduate applications, academic support services, and resources.
• Coordinate employment, volunteer, internship, and job shadowing opportunities while supporting job searches, applications, interviewing, onboarding, and retention.
• Facilitate individual and group programming focused on educational success, career exploration, workplace readiness, resume development, communication, and independence.
• Serve as a primary liaison for families, treatment teams, employers, and community partners by providing updates, support, and coordination.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support treatment planning, transition and discharge goals, and community employment outreach.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client engagement and outcomes, uphold confidentiality and program compliance.
