Job summary

Reed City High School seeks a dedicated Varsity Track & Field Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The role focuses on supporting the head coach, developing student-athletes, and promoting a positive team culture within a competitive track program.

Ideal candidates will have track and field knowledge, strong leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to the academic and athletic growth of athletes. Evening and weekend availability is required during the season.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or strong background as a competitive athlete preferred.
• Knowledge of track and field events, training techniques, and conditioning.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and develop student-athletes.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred or to be obtained before the season.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing training sessions, practice schedules, and competition strategies.
• Provide instruction and support to student-athletes in various track and field events, ensuring proper techniques and safety protocols.
• Help organize and supervise practices, meets, and events, ensuring compliance with school policies.
• Assist in recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting participation in the program.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance skills.
• Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship and respect.
• Communicate with head coach, parents, and athletes regarding expectations and schedules.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including equipment inventory and record-keeping.
