Job summary

North Carolina Central University is seeking a Student Services Specialist to counsel students and families on financial aid programs, determine eligibility, and ensure accurate disbursement processing using Banner and NextGen systems.

The role supports the Title IV programs and requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and compliance in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Federal financial aid regulations and programs.
• Need analysis and automated packaging in a Banner/EDExchange environment.
• Familiarity with automated financial aid database systems and ED Exchange.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Understanding of office policies and standard work procedures.
• Knowledge of basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students and families on the range of aid programs.
• Determine student eligibility and communicate opportunities.
• Apply policies and operate Banner/NextGen systems.
• Review disbursement and origination reports for accuracy.
• Assist in maintaining confidential student records.
