Job summary

The Children’s Center of Hamden is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support students in the Whitney Hall School program within a special education setting. You will report to the Principal and VP of Education and collaborate with the Center’s staff.

Responsibilities include planning instruction, teaching core subjects, developing IEPs, preparing progress reports, and participating in PPTs and case conferences.

Qualifications

• One to two years teaching or related experience.
• Comprehensive Special Education K-12 (165) certification.
• DSAP eligible candidates considered.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction across a range of grade levels.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional activities for students with individual differences.
• Teach English, Math, Language Arts, Science, Health, Reading, Life Skills and Social Studies.
• Assess academic strengths and weaknesses of each student.
• Prepare a written IEP for each student per PPT recommendations.
• Prepare quarterly benchmark and semi-annual progress reports.
• Participate in PPTs, Treatment Teams and Case Conferences.
