Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum aligned with district goals and objectives.
• Maintains a safe classroom conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates plans into effective learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment and adjusts instruction to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs.
• Instructs students in citizenship and other subjects per laws and district regulations.
• Participates in professional development activities and research to stay current in education.
• Keeps accurate records of grades, attendance and student progress as required by procedures and law.
• Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures student conduct meets school standards and manages classroom behavior accordingly.
• Coordinates with grade-level staff to evaluate and adjust curriculum and participates in meetings.
• Selects and requisitions books, supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
• Supervises students in activities outside the classroom, including transportation.
• Administers standardized tests in line with district testing programs.
