Job summary

Elmwood Park Board of Education School District is seeking a LTR Special Education Classroom Teacher to facilitate student growth through district-approved curricula and ongoing assessment. You will document progress, create a flexible learning environment, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.

The role requires NJ State Certification in Special Education and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education or related field, with prior teaching experience considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy; differentiates instruction based on student learning styles.
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Promotes a safe, conducive learning environment for individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and materials; translates plans into learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and adjusts instruction for individual needs.
• Instructs students on citizenship and subject matter per laws and district procedures.
• Attends seminars/workshops to maintain professional knowledge.
• Maintains accurate record-keeping, grading and reporting.
• Encourages parental involvement and communicates effectively with students and parents.
• Coordinates with staff and participates in meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional materials; maintains inventory.
• Supervises students during activities and school transportation.
• Administers standardized tests per district programs.
