Job summary

Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support students in an emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disordered or self-contained environment. Under supervision, you will assist instructors with IEP planning and implementation, provide teaching assistance to individuals or small groups, and ensure student care to enable effective learning activities.

Position duties include data entry for IEPs, materials preparation, and daily classroom support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, AND two years of college (at least 48-semester hour credits); Associate's (or higher) degree; Pass the Para Pro Assessment and the Paraprofessional Standards Checklist.

Responsibilities

• Enters and maintains student IEP data in a computer system and prints data files daily.
• Prepares and returns classroom materials, locates supplies, and organizes the classroom.
• Provides attendant care for moderately/severely handicapped or ED students throughout the day.
• Assists with grading, attendance, and data entry for student projects and tests.
• Assists with scheduling parent conferences and IEP meetings; supports student visits to the nurse as needed.
