Job summary

Lompoc Unified School District invites applicants for a Paraeducator-Special Education position to support certificated staff in delivering instruction to students with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, plus relevant education or experience, and possess First Aid/CPR certification. Training in CPI may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED and one year of experience with children in any organized setting.
• ESSA compliance required; must meet employment standards as outlined in the job description.
• For Title I funded sites, two years of college or an associate degree or higher is preferred.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificates required; CPI training may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teachers in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities across instructional settings.
• Provide general medical assistance and health care as assigned; administer medication per procedures.
• Assist with IEPs, data collection, behavior plans, and lesson preparation; support teachers with classroom activities.
• Support social skills, student independence, and safe, positive classroom environments.
• Perform clerical duties and maintain student records; ensure confidentiality.
