Job summary

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS is hiring an Instructional Assistant/Paraprofessional Mental Health Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. This grant-funded position involves providing daily assistance to the Mental Health Clinician in elementary schools, facilitating communication among students, families, and staff.

Candidates should possess at least a high school diploma and ideally have some college experience. Strong interpersonal and observational skills are essential. The role requires collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed at least 60 semester hours of college credit or earned an associates or higher degree or successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, observation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work under supervision and adapt to differing student needs.
• Good physical and emotional health and maturity.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily assistance to the Mental Health Clinician.
• Conduct individual check-ins with students experiencing difficulties.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the clinician.
• Document daily interventions and maintain accurate records.
• Facilitate individual and group activities.
