Job summary

Comunilife Inc. is seeking experienced Peer Mentors for its OMH Adult Homes Scatter Site Program in Long Island City, NY.

This part-time position (about 15–20 hours per week) focuses on promoting recovery, re-housing, and coping skills by providing emotional support and peer-based guidance. The role involves outreach, crisis support, and collaboration with case management to help participants achieve independent living and access entitlements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
• Personal experience with homelessness, substance abuse and/or mental illness is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Assist outreach, engagement, and acculturation of participants facing mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse.
• Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling within training to reduce self-destructive behaviors.
• Help participants view apartments or attend appointments to aid in securing entitlements.
• Encourage use of community support resources and promote recovery and self-care.
