Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Pre-K) at Woodbrook Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. You will support classroom instruction, help maintain an orderly environment, and assist with various activities under the supervision of a teacher and principal.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and involves daily interaction with students, families, and staff; CPR certification or willingness to obtain is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• High school graduate or equivalent, and willingness to obtain CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out instructional plans as designated by the classroom teacher and if appropriate the student's IEP.
• Assist in maintaining a pleasant and orderly classroom environment (e.g., maintain instructional materials, bulletin boards, assist teacher or students in cleanup activities).
• Assist teacher in maintaining appropriate level of classroom behavior and control.
• Assist in the movement of students between learning environments as needed.
• Perform attendance recording and collection of lunch monies as directed by classroom teacher.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and duplicating at the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Supervise students in lunchroom or during lunch period and during non-instructional times as directed.
