Albemarle County Public Schools seeks a School-based Substitute Teacher for Woodbrook Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time, benefits-eligible role covers classroom teachers or related positions as needed, within a diverse learning environment that emphasizes anti-racism and high-quality teaching.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma (priority for Virginia teaching eligibility) and can maintain classroom management, deliver prepared lessons, and collaborate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Priority will be given to candidates who are eligible for a Virginia Teaching License.
• Ability to cover classroom teacher, specialist, or teaching assistant roles as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serves in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Delivers the lesson plan created and left by the classroom teacher.
• Meets and instructs students in the locations and times designated.
• Maintains the classroom environment conducive to learning within system resources.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows preparation evidence upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain high standards of behavior.
• Protects students, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintains records as required by law and policy.
• Cooperates with staff and follows school rules.
• Communicates with administration regarding student concerns.
