Job summary

Springfield Public Schools(SEZP) seeks an English teacher for grades 6-8 at the SEZP Middle School. The role focuses on high-quality instruction, belonging, and community engagement within a zone-wide framework in Springfield, MA.

The candidate must hold MA DESE English licensure (or eligible for waiver), bring middle school experience, and be prepared to collaborate in teams and with families. Base salary up to $96,864.45, with experience-based adjustments, starting August 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching at middle/high school level.
• Valid Massachusetts DESE license in English for 6-8 required (licensure waiver possible).
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction using research-based curriculum and effective instructional strategies.
• Ensure all students can access grade-level content through thoughtful lesson design, scaffolding, and embedded supports.
• Use student data and formative assessment to adjust instruction and promote academic growth.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students grounded in consistency, respect, and high expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues, including co-teaching teams and professional learning communities.
• Engage families as partners through regular communication and shared problem-solving.
• Support students in developing skills, habits, and confidence for success in high school and beyond.
• Participate in professional learning, coaching, and feedback cycles.
• Model strong practice, host residents or student teachers when applicable, and support a culture of adult learning.
• Uphold school-wide expectations related to curriculum, assessment, and professional conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
