Job summary

General Human Outreach Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings. You will help with ADLs, personal care, meal prep, and housework while promoting independence.

You will follow individualized plans, support community involvement, and ensure a safe home. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NYS valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
• Experience with IDD population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with IDD in residential settings.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, meals, and housekeeping.
• Support individuals in achieving personal goals and participating in community activities.
• Follow individualized support plans and provide person-centered care.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and document activities in Therap.
• Transport individuals to appointments and community outings as needed.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and team members.
• Attend required trainings and follow agency policies and OPWDD regulations.
