Job summary

Henry County Schools seeks an Exceptional Student Education Teacher to support students with disabilities within the district. You will plan and deliver instruction, develop and monitor IEPs/ILPs, and collaborate with families and school teams to ensure aligned services.

Qualifications

• Able to supervise students during emergencies and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials for active learning.
• Demonstrate knowledge of eligibility process and assist with IEP initiation through completion.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and review each student's IEP/ILP on caseload.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians regarding their child's educational program.
• Compile, maintain, and submit accurate paperwork within timelines.
• Collaborate with general education and related services staff to maximize achievement.
• Maintain lesson plans according to policies and directives.
• Deliver specialized instruction per IEPs/ILPs using research-based practices.
• Develop data-driven behavior management strategies including FBAs and BIPs.
• Use formative and summative assessments and report progress to families regularly.
• Ensure due process protections for students and families.
• Adhere to district policies and federal/state regulations for special education.
• Serve as a resource to general education teachers supporting students with disabilities.
• Maintain prompt and professional communication with parents.
• Participate in district, school, department, and parent meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
