Job summary

Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District in Shell Rock, Iowa, is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator for Shell Rock Elementary to support students with disabilities under the supervision of certified staff. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age
• Experience working with school age children preferred
• Knowledge or the ability to be trained to meet responsibilities of the job

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with educational activities
• Assist in preparing materials for instruction by setting up computers and audiovisual equipment
• Assist in organizing and utilizing reference materials and assessing student work
• Assist in implementing and monitoring Individual Education Plans
• Assist in implementing behavior management strategies
• Supervise students in lunchroom, recess, classrooms, halls, and bus areas
• Make quick, responsible decisions regarding student welfare and safety
• Assist students with work completion
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Provide personal care for students with disabilities as needed
• Attend in-service trainings and school meetings
• Other duties as assigned
