Job summary

Waterloo Community School District is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant for the Elementary Extended Core program in Waterloo, Iowa. This non-exempt, educational support role assists classroom teachers and supports students with special needs in instructional activities.

Responsibilities include supervising students, implementing IEP/behavior plans, and performing clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• NCLB compliance – 60 college credit hours, associate’s degree, generalist or specialist paraeducator license or district competency test.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups, reinforcing teacher instruction.
• Actively participate in professional development and meetings (IEP/behavior).
• Monitor and report progress on student behavior, academics or health issues to teachers.
