Job summary

Jay Nolan Community Services in Salinas, CA is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help individuals with autism live with dignity, independence and choice.

You will provide one-to-one support, assist with daily activities, and help clients pursue personal, educational and career goals. This role offers a schedule of Wednesdays 2pm–5pm, with pay between $20.25 and $23.00 per hour, in a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field is required as listed in the ad.
• Experience with autism/developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one direct support services to people with Autism and intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to help them achieve their highest possible level of independence.
• Act as a mentor and role model for socially acceptable and culturally valued ways to interact and support each other to be successful.
• Support an individual with various challenges within their home and community.
• Implement the Individual’s Support Plan (ISP) as developed.
• Assist and support the person to maintain their own personal safety and well-being.
• Support the individual to establish a daily/weekly schedule of activities to maximize independence.
• Stay up to date with all training and certifications.
• Participate hands-on in activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, or comparable human services field
