Job summary

The Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority is hiring a Community Employment Job Coach to support individuals at their jobs, teaching work behavior and social skills to promote quality performance in a community setting.

The role collaborates with employers and staff, participates in person-centered planning, and helps with transportation and accommodations. A high school diploma is preferred; lived experience is valued and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness preferred.
• Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders is valued.
• Good organizational and communication skills required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as determined by the agency.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates effective coordination of community employment services that adhere to person-centered planning through collaboration with individuals and/or parents/guardians, Case Managers, clinicians, and other community organizations.
• Demonstrate effective case recording in accordance with Person Centered Planning, and NeMCMHA “Case Recording Guidelines”.
• Serves as a liaison with employers and NeMCMHA employment staff and maintains professional relationships.
• Support individuals with specialized transportation needs.
• Assist the community employment program in efforts to increase public awareness and acceptance of inclusion in competitive integrated employment.
• May be required to work an unusual work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
