Job summary

Rock Creek Foundation in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Community Development Counselor (DSP) to help empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through person-centered instruction and daily living skills development in a community-based setting.

You will plan meaningful day activities, counsel clients, maintain records, support travel and outings, ensure safety, and adhere to COMAR and program policies while collaborating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
• Must have proof of car insurance.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working with adults diagnosed with varying intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Ability to work independently and within a team; multitask.
• Ability to work with high-risk individuals with mental illnesses and disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily meaningful day activities.
• Counsel clients in identifying and resolving social problems.
• Maintain and compile daily activity records.
• Write and submit incident reports as needed.
• Monitor and maintain client records.
• Supervise group-sponsored trips and social functions.
• Escort individuals on trips outside establishment for recreation.
• Transport individuals in a personal vehicle.
• Ensure compliance with COMAR, MHP and company regulations.
• Implement Individualized Plan goals and outcomes.
