Job summary

Seattle University’s Sundborg Center for Community Engagement seeks Washington Middle School mentors for the Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP). Weekly on-site, one-on-one academic and social-emotional mentoring for grades 6–8; mentors build belonging and connect scholars to school.

Mentors report to the Site Manager; participate in trainings; commit to an academic year; compensation is $21.30 per hour, up to 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Able to participate in 1-2 mentoring sessions weekly and a monthly professional development requirement.
• Willingness to grow mentoring skills and practices.
• Able to interact with scholars from varied backgrounds in an academic setting.
• Demonstrate effective and culturally relevant mentoring practices.
• Dependable with on-site presence and communications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain authentic relationships with scholars; keep session records and participate in trainings.
• Communicate effectively with the Site Manager, Graduate Assistant at WMS, Team Leader, peers, scholars, and families.
• Plan weekly sessions and activities for after-school programs; engage in personal and professional development.
• Submit communications and documentation on time.
• Commit to a full academic year.
