Job summary

Ypsilanti Community Schools seeks a K-4 Grade Teacher to deliver district-approved curriculum, promote social, physical and intellectual growth, and guide students toward mature, responsible citizenship.

This role requires a Valid Michigan teaching certificate, a Bachelor's degree with certification, and related teaching experience; endorsements K-5 ZG and K-12 FF are preferred. The position reports to the Building Principal and offers a salary range per the YCEA contract.

Responsibilities

• Teaches district-approved curriculum.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Communicates objectives to students and works toward curriculum goals.
• Diagnoses the educational needs of students.
• Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps records and prepares progress reports.
• Available to students and parents outside the instructional day.
• Collaborates to create and execute clear instructional plans with strong student results.
• Aligns curriculum, instruction, and assessments to student needs.
• Implements a tiered system of instruction to meet diverse learners.
• Discusses subject-specific content and innovation to improve learning.
• Coordinates instruction within and across grade levels.
• Seeks support from peers and administrators to deliver high-quality teaching.
• Thrives in a respectful, team-based, accountable environment.
• Performs physical demands and works in a typical school setting.
