Job summary

Ypsilanti Community Schools seeks a K-4 Grade Teacher to deliver district-approved curriculum, promote social, physical and intellectual growth, and guide students toward mature, responsible citizenship.

This role requires a Valid Michigan teaching certificate, a Bachelor's degree with certification, and related teaching experience; endorsements K-5 ZG and K-12 FF are preferred. The position reports to the Building Principal and offers a salary range per the YCEA contract.

  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Communicates objectives to students and works toward curriculum goals.
  • Diagnoses the educational needs of students.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps records and prepares progress reports.

Summary: Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible adults.

  3. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
  4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  5. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  6. The learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  7. Diagnoses the educational needs of students.
  8. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  9. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
