Job summary

College of the Mainland seeks professional tutors to assist students and community members in becoming more successful writers. You will help integrate effective learning strategies while clarifying course content and assignments.

Responsibilities include tutoring individuals or small groups, attending classes as requested, maintaining confidentiality, and reporting tutoring activities. A Bachelor's in English or related field is required; a Master's in English is preferred with college tutoring

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English or related field with tutoring experience at the collegiate level.
Prefer a Master's degree in English or Composition with community college tutoring background.
Strong written and spoken communication skills and ability to teach writing across courses.

Responsibilities

Provide content and skill-development tutoring to students individually or in small groups.
Attend classes as embedded tutor, assist instructor and complete assignments as needed.
Maintain tutoring schedules and accurate records of sessions.
Participate in tutor training and professional development.
Develop knowledge of college services and refer students to appropriate offices when needed.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and tutoring discussions.
