Job summary

Ashland Middle School is seeking an 8th grade special education teacher to join our team from late October 2026 through June 2027. The successful candidate will provide individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in inclusive and specialized settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect instructional support to 8th grade students in accordance with their IEPs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of adolescent development and diverse learning needs by providing differentiated learning experiences.
• Participates actively in the special education Team process, including preparing for and participating in Team meetings and collaborating with families and colleagues.
• Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs with measurable goals and objectives based on student needs and data.
• Ensures compliance with IEP requirements and timelines while maintaining accurate student records and reports.
• Provides specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs, Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and local curriculum.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications for access to the general education curriculum.
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet learning needs.
• Collects and analyzes assessment data to evaluate progress and determine interventions.
• Collaborates with families, staff, and outside providers to support student success.
• Communicates progress and seeks feedback to improve instruction.
• Establishes high expectations while providing supports for student success.
• Supports executive functioning and transition planning to high school.
• Maintains a positive, inclusive learning environment and addresses differences in backgrounds.
