Qualifications

Summary: The Employment Specialist will assess individuals on career options and assist and train individuals on paid on-site contract work and off-site employment opportunities.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm (40 hours per week)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with the Employment Manager regarding Individual Service Plans.
  2. Implements an individualized program, based on each person's needs following their Individual Service Plan.
  3. Maintain data on designated objectives per the Individual Service Plan.
  4. Administer, tabulate, and interpret work-related assessments to determine each person's career choices.
  5. Participate in job site tours.
  6. Assist in evaluating each individual's job performance semi-annually.
  7. Assist with upkeep and maintenance of the program, follow the cleaning schedule, and report any maintenance issues.
  8. Maintain all appropriate certifications including FA/CPR and PABC.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

  1. A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  3. Experience with contract work, and off-site employment is helpful.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of principles of normalization, behavior management, and human rights
  2. Valid driver's license and one year of driving experience.
  3. Basic computer skills.

Physical Demands:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb stairs.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  3. The employee must be able to drive a vehicle.
  4. Must have a normal range of eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
  5. Must have a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.
