Job Summary:
The Providence Center Employment Specialist will coordinate vocational and employment services following the Individual, Placement, Support (IPS) model, in conjunction with multi-disciplinary team members, to support individuals in identifying, securing, and maintaining employment opportunities of their choice.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Orient referred individuals to Employment Services, available services, departmental goals, and philosophies; complete intakes and schedule follow-up services promptly.
- Administer assessments and evaluations or make appropriate referrals.
- Begin job development within 30 days of intake.
- Develop and implement individualized employment and treatment plans based on evaluations, assessments, reports, strengths, barriers, and the individual’s goals, needs, and interests.
- Participate as a team member of ICTT, outpatient teams, and WEE, effectively communicating consumer status to ensure coordinated services and optimal care.
- Coordinate with the Office of Rehabilitation Services for referrals, intakes, job development, placement, retention, and reporting.
- Develop and place individuals in supported employment sites aligned with their strengths, needs, interests, and preferences.
- Meet individual and team goals established.
- Coordinate and facilitate employment-related classes and workshops to support clients in achieving and maintaining employment.
- Provide direct services including job development, coaching, on-site supports, transportation, and life management.
- Participate in developing therapeutic services, including working with substance abusers.
- Transport consumers using own vehicle or Center van to activities and appointments.
- Complete recordkeeping in accordance with HIS and other Center policies, maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with staff, consumers, community agencies, and the public.
- Communicate with local agencies and other departments within The Center.
- Attend trainings, case presentations, and conferences.
- Participate in mandatory and other required trainings.
- Maintain active involvement in professional and community organizations as appropriate.
- Work flexible hours as needed for job coaching and networking events.
- Serve on appropriate Providence Center committees.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Human Services or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a vocational/employment setting preferred.
- Experience with psychiatric disabilities preferred.
- Valid driver's license and insured vehicle required.
- Marketing background is a plus.
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
