Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Employment Specialist for our women's shelter located in Manhattan.

This position is located at 205 West 135 Street New York, NY 10030.

The Employment Specialist provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies.
  • Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Visits clients in their home and other settings as required.
  • Familiar with OMH regulations.
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services.
  • Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision.
  • Perform routine clinical services as a member of the team.
  • Responsible for charting client services.
  • Responsible for the vocational portion or all of creating the service plan.
  • Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all team members.
  • Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participant’s needs change.
  • Advocating for the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible.
  • Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status.
  • Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants.
  • Assist with making monthly contact with tenants as needed.
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings.
  • Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to assist adults of diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, ages, and sexual preferences.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Evening hours are required.
