Job summary

Adams & Martin Group in California seeks an experienced Employment Litigation Associate to join our team. You will defend single-plaintiff claims, counsel clients, and manage discovery, motions, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials from inception through resolution.

The ideal candidate has California bar admission, substantial employment litigation experience representing employers, and strong writing and advocacy skills with the ability to manage multiple matters.

Responsibilities

• Defend single-plaintiff employment claims in state and federal courts.
• Represent employers before CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
• Provide day-to-day employment law advice and counsel to clients.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests and defend depositions.
• Handle law and motion practice, including dispositive motions and arbitration-related motions.
• Prepare case evaluations and litigation strategies; manage caseloads toward resolution.
• Attend mediations, court hearings, and participate in arbitrations and trials.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our employment litigation team, you will:

• Defend single-plaintiff employment claims involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related workplace issues in state and federal courts.
• Represent employers in proceedings before the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and California Labor Commissioner.
• Provide day-to-day employment law advice and counsel to clients.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle law and motion practice, including:
• Dispositive motions
• Motions to compel arbitration
• Discovery-related motions
• Prepare case evaluations and litigation strategies for clients.
• Independently manage caseloads and proactively drive matters toward resolution.
• Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting persuasive mediation briefs.
• Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue motions when appropriate.
• Participate in arbitrations and trials.

• Strong experience handling employment-related administrative charges and court litigation.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
