Job summary

Adams & Martin Group in California seeks an experienced Associate in employment litigation and counseling. The attorney will handle complex matters for employers from inception through resolution.

You will defend claims in state and federal courts, advise clients, manage discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and participate in trials and arbitrations. This role offers growth within a collaborative team and exposure to sophisticated matters.

Qualifications

• Active admission to the California bar.
• Significant employment litigation experience representing employers.
• Strong experience handling employment-related administrative charges and court litigation.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and cases effectively.

Responsibilities

• Defend single-plaintiff employment claims in state and federal courts.
• Represent employers before CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
• Provide day-to-day employment law advice and counsel to clients.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle law and motion practice: dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, discovery-related motions.
• Prepare case evaluations and litigation strategies.
• Independently manage caseloads and drive matters toward resolution.
• Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
• Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue motions.
• Participate in arbitrations and trials.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our employment litigation team, you will:

• Defend single-plaintiff employment claims involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related workplace issues in state and federal courts.
• Represent employers in proceedings before the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and California Labor Commissioner.
• Provide day-to-day employment law advice and counsel to clients.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle law and motion practice, including:
  • Dispositive motions
  • Motions to compel arbitration
  • Discovery-related motions
• Prepare case evaluations and litigation strategies for clients.
• Independently manage caseloads and proactively drive matters toward resolution.
• Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting persuasive mediation briefs.
• Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue motions when appropriate.
• Participate in arbitrations and trials.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active admission to practice law in the State of California.
• Significant employment litigation experience representing employers.
• Strong experience handling employment-related administrative charges and court litigation.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and cases effectively.
• Strong client service and relationship-building skills.

Preferred:

• Arbitration and trial experience.
• Experience independently managing cases from intake through resolution.
